# Xyvenra Code Agent mode

Agent mode adds bounded project tools to the signed-in browser workspace. It uses the selected cloud provider and the API key entered in the current browser tab. Your provider account bills model usage.

1. Choose a project folder or import supported project files. A folder selected with the browser folder picker enables full local file listing, search, and reads; a ZIP or GitHub import limits Agent to the files already imported as context.
2. Enter a provider API key and model. The selected model must support tool/function calls; availability varies by provider and model.
3. Turn on **Agent mode**, describe the task, and send it. Agent can list safe text paths, search locally, and read one supported file at a time. It skips dependencies, generated directories, binaries, and secret-looking paths; supported Cursor, Windsurf, and other agent rule files may be included. Files whose text matches common credential patterns are not sent by search or file-read tools.
4. If Agent proposes edits, review the line-by-line change view, including added and removed lines and their line numbers. Nothing is written until you approve the proposal. Before applying, Code checks existing files against the snapshots used to prepare the proposal; if a file changed, application stops. Files that were only partially read cannot be changed by Agent. For very large files, Code uses a bounded comparison that marks the changed middle as replacement lines rather than spending unbounded time computing a detailed diff.

Each run is capped at six local actions and eight model steps. It does not run terminal commands, access the network, or write files directly. Initial project-context files are sent to the provider after the existing sensitive-file confirmation; local search results and explicitly read file excerpts are sent only when Agent requests those tools. The browser does not upload a project archive for local search.

The hosted agent is a bounded browser workflow, not a remote coding VM or a full Cursor replacement. It has no terminal, persistent semantic index, background agent, team workspace, or direct Git operations. Use the desktop Xyvenra Code app for its local terminal and Git features.
